I cut my teeth on Victoria Holt’s Gothic romance novels when I was about 12. They were the closest contemporary thing I could find to Jane Eyre, and they were — and are — wonderful, though I haven’t picked one up in decades.
I should explore the historical romances she wrote under the name Jean Plaidy. I write contemporary romance but I could learn a thing or 12 from her.
200 published novels? Can you imagine? All hats off!
