This afternoon I shifted writing gears back to academic matters long enough to write a small grant application for Venice-based research that I can do while I’m there for the October conference.
That research relates to a scholarly article I’ll be writing come Spring 2018 on David Lean’s 1955 film Summertime, shot in Venice; if I get it, I’ll also be able to do some research in film archives in Los Angeles for the same project.
I’ve received several such grants in the past (they’re internal to my college), so I suspect I won’t get one this time around, but if you don’t ask, you don’t get.
And with that, I’m turning my attention back to romance.
